With so much choice in aftermarket ‘off the shelf’ body kits (never mind the custom ones!) you can make standard, run of the mill cars, really stand out.

Take this mark 4 Escort for example, the owner’s kitted it out to look like it means business. And to prove it’s not all show, he brought it to us to make it go…

We started by fitting a modified inlet manifold to accommodate the switch from KE Jetronic. Next came a Cosworth 4x4 throttle body, a stage 1 Group A hybrid turbo and tubular manifold. We’ve given it a custom made exhaust system, an aftermarket management system and at present it is running a cool 250bhp

To help rein in this increase in power the vehicle is fitted with a big brake kit on the front and back. Finally to polish off the job we had the wheels painted up in Anthracite.
